There are moments when our EDGE Athletes exceed all expectations. Where we stand back, jaws dropped in awe as they transcend our four walls, blow past barriers and prove that ANYTHING is possible. This weekend, we had these moments over and over and over as our athletes were (quite literally) spread West Coast to East Coast conquering their goals. Fresh Legs, Fast Times, and a helluva lotta hard work and heart.
So here it is, the EDGE Athlete Weekend Recap:
Annie: Not only did Annie have her first win as a Cat 3 on Saturday (with a 7 lap solo break away….!), but she repeated at the top of the Podium on Sunday too! Big things coming her way and to BFF Bikes Racing this season!
Mia: It takes a special type of athlete to attack, and Mia did just that. She made the pack work hard to push the pace as she shot off front (note that you can barely see them in this pic!), and bonus: overcame her fear of riding in the rain! Great teamwork by Chicago Cuttin Crew over the weekend.
Daphne: This lady has put in some serious training over the winter, and we are just starting to see what she’s capable of. Double win this weekend – the first had her on the Podium with fellow Chicago Women's Elite Cycling Members, and the last race had a final sprint into the headwind for the Win!
Kelsea: All winter long Kelsea has been training at EDGE, using her lunch breaks to log miles ramping up to her first race. Well, we’re happy to report that Kelsea not only finished her first Triathlon (in 40 degree weather!) but annihilated it! Here’s to the beginning of something BIG….and many more lunchtime training sessions!
Out West, Jenny and Geoff tackled 18 & 26.2 trail miles as part of their training leading up to their Spring Ultramarathons. Their climbing game was ON as they snagged top 10 AG spots!
Beth: Right here at home, Beth decided to log a few training miles at the Live Grit Lakefront 10 Miler…oh, and found a PR while she was at it! Cool, windy days are clearly her jam. ☺
Carol: She's has been laying down miles all winter long to prep for a speedy spring half, and Sunday Carol did just that! HUGE PR for her, despite crazy East Coast weather.
Speaking of weather, Miana ran one of the windiest, most gutsy marathons we’ve seen in a loooong time. Her game face was ON, pace was dialed IN and she pressed through to this final shot of utter strength. Could not be more proud of her!
Folks, one final note - let us remind you that this is only MARCH!! The beginning of big things to come…and we can’t wait to have that front row seat!
We are so very proud of you all.

As I trained for the Rio Paralympics, EDGE was the perfect place for me to recover in between my grueling workouts so I could perform my best day after day. It all paid off when I earned a bronze medal in Rio! Whether it's for bike, run or strength training, recovering in a pair of recovery boots, drinking a cup of coffee or chatting with the members about their past and current races, it is one of my favorite places to go - EDGE Athlete Lounge has become my second home!
I use EDGE for both training and recovery… having the Woodway treadmills and a room to do weights and other-related strength exercises when I need them is very helpful and convenient. Without question, utilizing EDGE on a consistent basis has helped me stay injury-free. In fact, as someone who has a history of being injured, since joining EDGE, I have yet to experience a significant injury. I attribute that largely to having ready access to state of the art recovery tools that EDGE provides its members with.
I will be racing the Boston Marathon in April, a race in which I am targeting a sub-2:30. Bearing that Boston goes according to plan, I intend on attacking a 2:25 clocking at the 2017 Chicago Marathon! Furthermore, I am planning on breaking 15:00 in the 5K and 1:09 in the half-marathon
EDGE helped me fight my way to the title of North American Cycle Courier Champion in 2016 and I’ve got 2017 in the crosshairs. As a full time bike messenger and a professional cyclist, my schedule allows very little time to give my muscles a break. The amazing staff and facilities at EDGE have allowed me to give my body the much needed recovery it needs between rides and have helped me ride farther, ride harder, and ride stronger than ever before. Fresh legs TRULY bring FAST TIMES!
