This weekend was nothing short of epic. It seemed that every time we turned around, our EDGE Athletes were dominating their races, chasing their dreams, kicking ass and taking names. We wanted to try and capture some of the CRAZYGOOD performances….so sit down, buckle up (grab a cup of coffee) and read on!
Becca earned herself a big ‘ole PR on her BIRTHDAY (1:28 on her 28th!)
Cameron nailed his 13.1 with a fifth place OVERALL finish and made a super solid deposit heading into the Chicago Marathon
Jeff completed his first open water 5K and came out smiling (yep you read that right – 3.1 miles of swimming!)
John obliterated his race goals and snagged a GIANT PR (to match the giant PR mug, naturally)
Pretty sure you’ve heard by now but we have not ONE but TWO PARALYMPIC MEDALS in the house!! Hailey and Melissa, we are beyond proud of you. We were screaming and cheering and crying from Chicago. Cannot WAIT for you to come home to celebrate!
The CX season kicked off at Caldwell Woods yesterday. And guess who took home the leader jersey? Yep, that’s Daphne and her Chicago Cuttin Crew posse ruling the roost!
And last but not least…one of our favorite all time races...
Jill and Andrew nailed their first full Ironmans, finish strong down the chute. There is simply no better day than your first IM!
Luke was Mr. Speedy of the day – his legs showed up to race, and race he did!
Brian found the IMOO chute for a second time, earning every step of his 140.6 journey!
Ashleigh ran down the chute for the FOURTH time. This girl is a machine!
Katie came back stronger, fitter and f*&ing fiercer than ever to FINISH what she started. SO proud of her as she tackled this goal
Pat not only slayed the swim and bike courses, but this Police Officer then went on to complete the run in FULL uniform in honor of 9/11, crossing the finish line with an American flag.
* Goosebumps *
To everyone who raced their hearts out, THANK YOU for showing us what it means to chase dreams, cross finish lines and come back for more! #EDGEfamily
As I trained for the Rio Paralympics, EDGE was the perfect place for me to recover in between my grueling workouts so I could perform my best day after day. It all paid off when I earned a bronze medal in Rio! Whether it's for bike, run or strength training, recovering in a pair of recovery boots, drinking a cup of coffee or chatting with the members about their past and current races, it is one of my favorite places to go - EDGE Athlete Lounge has become my second home!
I use EDGE for both training and recovery… having the Woodway treadmills and a room to do weights and other-related strength exercises when I need them is very helpful and convenient. Without question, utilizing EDGE on a consistent basis has helped me stay injury-free. In fact, as someone who has a history of being injured, since joining EDGE, I have yet to experience a significant injury. I attribute that largely to having ready access to state of the art recovery tools that EDGE provides its members with.
I will be racing the Boston Marathon in April, a race in which I am targeting a sub-2:30. Bearing that Boston goes according to plan, I intend on attacking a 2:25 clocking at the 2017 Chicago Marathon! Furthermore, I am planning on breaking 15:00 in the 5K and 1:09 in the half-marathon
EDGE helped me fight my way to the title of North American Cycle Courier Champion in 2016 and I’ve got 2017 in the crosshairs. As a full time bike messenger and a professional cyclist, my schedule allows very little time to give my muscles a break. The amazing staff and facilities at EDGE have allowed me to give my body the much needed recovery it needs between rides and have helped me ride farther, ride harder, and ride stronger than ever before. Fresh legs TRULY bring FAST TIMES!
